Details:

Ant to frat 7700 to fra 7700 to frg again it is missing a couple of case screws, and the screw for attaching the telescopic antenna. To do this the red wire pictured coming out where the telescopic antenna connects was attached to the RF input lead from the telescoping antenna just inside the case.

I unscrewed the telescopic antenna, as it was creating to much noise. Eventually I replaced the whole receiver set up, and no longer have the need for the active antenna or any of the other stuff. Everything was working great.

Remember the order is antenna, tuner, active antenna amplifier and receiver.

I did a very slight modification, as described it was hooked in series with the antenna tuner, and my external outdoor antenna. Believe me it's the ticket to improve your SQL especially if you can't set up a huge outdoor antenna. The fra 7700 is the hardest component to find trust me this red wire was connected to the output of the frat 7700 antenna tuner, as that was how I was able to get the incoming RF signal, amplify it and send it onto the frg 7700 receiver.

When connected to the frg 7700 receiver it does an unbelievable job of increasing weak signals the red wire is, and was signal input to the active antenna from the tuner. Here is a known working Yaesu fra 7700 active antenna for the frg 7700 receiver. One can easily reconnect the telescopic antenna with a screw, clip the red wire, and it is back to original configuration.
